Textile Arts: “Shibori Dyeing”

Deadline to Register: April 18th at 5:00pm Title: Textile Arts: “Shibori Dyeing” Description: Discover the beauty of Shibori, the traditional Japanese art of resist-dyeing, in this hands-on class designed for adults. Students will explore a variety of folding, binding, and stitching techniques to create unique patterns on fabric. Throughout the class, participants will experiment with different methods while dyeing multiple cloth pieces to take home. Instructor: This class will be taught by local weaver and leathercrafter Emily Wallace. Emily has been teaching weaving, spinning, and other fiber arts to the public for over 10 years, with more recent experience in leather crafting. She previously owned a yarn shop in Hartselle, AL and has taught a wide range of workshops at yarn shops and studios. In addition to teaching, Emily lectures on the use of conservation breed wool and the history of spinning and weaving. Supplies and Attire: All materials and supplies will be provided.
