About this event
Story Room. Join us for a very Martian Christmas with the wonderfully strange holiday science-fiction film Santa Claus Conquers the Martians! Worried that the children of Mars have become too serious, a group of Martians decides there is only one solution: bring Santa Claus to Mars. Unfortunately, their plan involves kidnapping Santa—and two Earth children along with him. Soon Santa is caught in the middle of a very unusual Martian adventure involving spaceships, robots, rival aliens, and an attempt to bring a little Christmas cheer to the Red Planet. Released in 1964, Santa Claus Conquers the Martians has become a cult favorite thanks to its colorful characters, low-budget science-fiction imagination, and delightfully odd combination of Christmas movie and space adventure. Come enjoy some popcorn and celebrate the season with one of the strangest trips to Mars ever put on film! Runtime: 1 hour, 21 minutes (81 minutes) Light refreshments will be provided. No registration is required.
