MELLOW Plus: Parker Pass

5 miles 498 AEG Hike Leader: Steve Geislinger 480 329-3926 This is a favorite hike in the Superstition Mountains. From First Water Trailhead, we cross First Water Creek several times on our way to Parker Pass. Elevation gain is gradual and steady. Along the way we are treated to interesting rock formations, washes, varied vegetation and distant views of Weaver’s Needle, the Superstition Ridge line, and Black Mesa. We take a break at the Pass, then retrace our steps back to the trailhead. *\\\Portions of the trail are rocky with high-clearance steps up and down. Rated mellow plus for this reason. If you prefer a shorter hike at a somewhat slower pace, see the Mellow version which is offered at the same time but goes only as far as the Stingray.* Directions: If using GPS, type First Water Trailhead into your device. From Cottonwood, right on Riggs. In 3.5 miles, turn left on McQueen. In 4.4 miles, turn right onto AZ-202 East. In 16 miles, take exit 30A for US-60 East. In 5.7 miles, take exit 196 for AZ-88 E/Idaho Rd. In .4 mile, turn left to stay on AZ-88 E/Idaho Rd. In 2.3 miles, turn right onto N Apache Trail. In .3 mile, at traffic circle, take 2nd exit onto AZ-88 E/N Apache Trail. In 4.9 miles, turn right onto N 1st Water Rd.
