From Paper to Vase: A Taiwanese Handmade Paper Workshop

Discover how traditional handmade paper can be transformed into a beautiful vase. Presented by Goang Xing Paper Mill of Taiwan, in collaboration with artist Sinrong Chen, this workshop begins with a presentation on traditional Taiwanese paper-making. Through videos, photographs, and paper samples, you will learn how natural plant fibers are prepared and transformed into paper, and how different paper-making methods create different textures and qualities. Following the presentation, you will use colorful, hand-dyed paper to transform a recycled glass bottle into a one-of-a-kind decorative vase. No previous art experience is required. Paper and other workshop materials will be provided, but participants should bring one clean, dry glass bottle with the label completely removed.
