Film Screening: 7:00–8:30 PM Talkback with Writer/Actor Noam Ash and Director Mike Doyle: 8:30–9:00 PM Bookends explores the complexities of caregiving, intergenerational relationships, and finding purpose in life’s unexpected chapters. After a difficult breakup, Nate (Noam Ash) reluctantly moves into his grandparents’ retirement community, where he finds himself navigating family expectations, new relationships, and the challenges that arise as his Holocaust-surviving grandfather Saul (F. Murray Abraham) begins showing signs of cognitive decline. Following the screening, stay for a special talkback with writer/actor Noam Ash and director Mike Doyle, who will share insights into the making of the film, its themes, and the creative process. Admission: $20 About the Speakers Noam Ash first gained recognition as the creator of the hit web series My Gay Roommate and subsequent TV pilot Boy-Friends from Keshet Studios, which garnered over 11 million views and received critical acclaim from Vanity Fair and The New York Times. He guest starred in HBO Max’s The Other Two, as well as starred in and executive produced The Ifluencers on Amazon Prime. He appeared in Prime Video’s Absentia and subsequently sold a one-hour drama to Sony Pictures Television. Bookends, which he wrote, produced, and starred in, is his debut feature. Mike Doyle is a writer, director, and actor. His feature film debut, Sell By, which he wrote and directed, premiered in Toronto in 2019 at Inside Out, then traveled the festival circuit garnering awards including Best Feature, Best Screenplay, and Best Director. It was acquired by Netflix under the title Almost Love.
