About this event
Aliosky Garcia Sosa (Expressiones) Woodcut is one of the oldest printmaking processes. This class offers an introduction to the fascinating world of woodcut printmaking and its many graphic possibilities. Designed for participants with no previous printmaking experience, the class provides an opportunity to explore the fundamentals of woodcut in a playful and spontaneous way. Participants will work with several approaches, including black-and-white woodcuts, color reduction woodcuts, and other creative methods of making prints from woodblocks. Each session begins with a brief demonstration by the artist educator to introduce the process and inspire students. Participants will then take part in hands-on activities where they experiment with new materials, practice creative thinking, and build confidence through the gradual mastery of carving tools, printing inks, and the different stages involved in creating a woodcut print. Over the five weeks, participants will develop their skills and explore the different techniques through a series of projects. By the end of the class, each student will have completed three to four works using the techniques explored throughout the class. 5-week series Wednesdays, 9:30am – 12:30pm October 14 – November 18(No class on November 11) Members $240 / Nonmembers $280 Class Supply List Softwood/MDF plywood Carving gouges Speedball water-based inks (black and colors) Tracing paper Carbon paper (transfer paper) Rollers Spoons Pencils Sharpie markers
