Writing as Revelation in Poetry and Fiction

About this event

Is our writing smarter than we are? How might poetry and fiction help us access parts of ourselves—memories, desires, fears, contradictions, possibilities—that we can’t reach otherwise? In this cross-genre generative workshop, we’ll explore how both poetry and fiction can reveal something about who we are and who we are becoming. Through craft lessons and playful generative exercises across both genres, we’ll use writing as a way to discover and understand our own transformations. By the end of the session, participants will have generated new material in both poetry and fiction, experimented with techniques for writing toward discovery, and considered what their writing might reveal about themselves.
