About this event

What happens when we meet visual art with words? Explore ekphrastic poetry through source materials—including art exhibits and installations at the library—example poems, conversation, and exercises inspired by the creative conversation between art forms. Open to all ages and writing backgrounds/experiences. Space limited, reservations recommended: (415) 355-5656, email parevent@sfpl.org or sign-up at the reference desk. David Maduli is a Filipino American father, writer, and educator. His work, often inflected by many years as a DJ and public school teacher, has received the Joy Harjo Poetry Prize. Born in San Francisco, he is the author of Alemany Bay Window / Redwood Coast Record Crate (Sampaguita Press, 2024) a dual poetry collection that documents the textures of his centenarian grandmother’s house in the Outer Mission as well as the liner notes and samples of vinyl records and sleeves.
