About this event

Wild Roots Learning Community 📅 Dates: Sep. 10, Sep. 24, Oct. 8, Oct. 22, Nov. 12, Dec. 10 (all Thursdays) ⏰ Time: 10:00am-12:00pm (each time) 👧 Age Range: 3-12 y/o (younger/older siblings welcome!) 💵 Cost: $5/kid 3-and-older ⭐ FREE for MDC Members, kids 2-and-under, and accompanying grown-ups Wild Roots is a play-based learning group where kids discover the world around them through child-led exploration. Sessions may take place indoors or outdoors, so please ensure you and your kids wear/bring appropriate clothing—even once snow falls! ☀️❄️ Grown-ups are required to supervise their kids, but they get in free! 🚗📍 Please use the Winter Admissions parking lot/entrance and meet up with the rest of the group in the Dining Room! 🪁 Session 1 (September 10) — Kites: Designing, building, and racing kites to see whose creations will catch the wind. Spoiler: Not every kite flies on the first try—and that’s the best part. 💨 Session 2 (September 24) — Pinwheels & Windsocks: Creating a field full of homemade pinwheels and windsocks. Kids get to redesign and relaunch anything that didn’t fly quite right the first time. ⚽ Session 3 (October 8) — The Great Noodle Race: Building pool noodle tracks to race spherical objects of various sizes down a hill. What will get to the bottom first: the marble, the whiffle ball, the soccer ball, or something else? 🎃 Session 4 (October 22) — The Great Pumpkin Move: Experimenting with ramps,…
