Wednesday at the Cathedral: Pray, Tour, & Explore
A Place of Prayer, History, and Welcome in the Heart of Houston For more than 185 years, Christ Church Cathedral has been a place where people come to encounter something larger than themselves. Founded in 1839 during the Republic of Texas, and worshiping in our present sanctuary since 1893, the Cathedral stands as one of the oldest congregations in the state — and one of downtown Houston’s most beloved spaces for prayer, reflection, and community. On Wednesdays, the doors are wide open. Whether you are stepping in for the first time or returning as a faithful regular, you are warmly welcome. Open for Prayer & Contemplation Wednesdays | 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. The Cathedral is open for quiet prayer and personal reflection throughout the day. Come alone and sit in the stillness, or let one of our guides walk you through the Cathedral’s rich and storied history. There is no agenda — only an open door and a sacred space waiting for you. Noonday Prayer & Eucharist Weekdays | 12:05 p.m. | Golding Chapel Join us for a brief 15-minute service of Noonday Prayer in our historic Golding Chapel — a simple, contemplative pause in the middle of the day. On Wednesdays, the Eucharist is offered immediately following Noonday Prayer for any who wish to stay and receive communion.
