The Trouble with My Hair: Coloring, Cutting, and Coming into Who I Am | AFA Gallery in Scranton Saturday, October 3–Sunday, October 4, 2026 | Saturday 2:30 & 8:30 PM; Sunday 2:30 PM The Trouble with My Hair: Coloring, Cutting, and Coming into Who I Am comes to AFA Gallery in Scranton, PA, on Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4. Performances are Saturday at 2:30 and 8:30 PM and Sunday at 2:30 PM as part of the 2026 Scranton Fringe Festival. This intimate solo performance explores Cheng’s gender, sexual and racial identities through an evolving relationship with hair. Hairstyles, colors and conversations become milestones in a journey toward self-definition. Blending theatrical storytelling with narrative art, the show examines family expectations, beauty standards, queerness and personal agency. Humor and vulnerability accompany stories about belonging, setting boundaries and reclaiming personal voice. The production was developed with and directed by Jessica Lynn Johnson, founder of Soaring Solo Studios. Tickets are $15. The Trouble with My Hair explores identity, autonomy and self-discovery through personal storytelling at the Scranton Fringe Festival in Scranton.
