The Travel Mistake I'm Glad I Made

Location note: This event is currently scheduled for Barnes & Noble Northville. We’re trying out another coffee shop location at our August 4 meetup. If that location turns out to be a great fit for the group, we may update this event location shortly after that, with plenty of notice. Not every good travel story starts with good planning. For this event, bring one travel mistake, wrong turn, missed connection, bad assumption, overpacked bag, underplanned day, awkward moment, questionable hotel, unexpected detour, or “what were we thinking?” decision that somehow turned into a story worth keeping. It does not have to be dramatic. It just has to be memorable. Maybe you got lost and found a neighborhood you loved. Maybe a restaurant was closed and you ended up somewhere better. Maybe you booked the wrong thing, planned too much, planned too little, trusted the wrong advice, ignored the right advice, or had a travel day that went sideways but became funny later. The point is not to complain about bad trips. The point is to talk about the strange way travel sometimes rewards imperfection. We’ll keep it casual and conversational. Everyone who wants to share will have a chance to tell one mistake story and what came out of it. No presentation needed. No travel expertise required. Just bring one travel mistake you’re glad you made.
