Start of Improv Class 201: Crafting Characters – 8 weeks

« All Events Start of Improv Class 201: Crafting Characters – 8 weeks April 8, 2026 | 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Learn the components of improvising characters over 8 weeks When improvising, characters help filter ideas, emotions, and actions to move through a scene. This goes beyond looks or accents to motivation – their wants, needs, and perspectives. Characters in scenes build a unique world through their eyes, and this course will support you in utilizing traits, physicality, emotions, relationships, and specificity. Improv 201 is open to anyone that has had previous improv experience. It consists of eight two-hour classes on Wednesdays (April 8, 15, 22, & 29 and May 6, 13, 20, & 27) from 6 to 8 pm at Big Couch’s Bywater location at 1045 Desire St., New Orleans, LA 70117. At the culmination of the course, attendees will put on an evening improv show on Thursday, June 4. A registration fee of $200 will cover all eight sessions, and scholarships are available to those who identify as Black/African American, Indigenous, Hispanic/Latinx, Asian American Pacific Islander, LGBTQIA+, and/or disabled, as well for those whom English is their second language.
