Spring Forward Improv Workshops: Singing Ugly in Musical Improv

Dig deeper into the specific skills needed to make you a bad-ass improviser! Spring is here, and Stomping Ground is rolling out a brand new workshop series to help you spring forward as an improviser and performer! Each week, one of our instructors will dig into a topic or skill of their choosing! Students will refresh their improvisational toolbelt and add new tools to make their scenes both memorable and engaging for an audience. This class is recommended for students with some improv experience. The prerequisite for these workshops is Level Three Improv at Stomping Ground or the equivalent at another training center with permission from the Training Center Director. This week’s topic is Singing Ugly in Musical Improv It’s been said that you don’t have to be a great singer to do musical improv! This week’s Spring Forward Drop In class will lean into the idea of singing ugly, a term for letting the character’s point of view drive how they sound and how they sound inspire their point of view! Students will stop trying to sound good and instead give themselves over the song their character needs to sing. This drop-in class meets on Sunday, April 12 from 6-8:30pm. The instructors are Lynsey Hale & Josh Diamond. All sales are final. Price of class does not include Eventbrite’s service fee (3.7% + $1.79) and payment processing fee (2.9%) which will be added to the total price at checkout. All students must adhere to policies in the Stomping Ground Student Handbook. Must be 18 years or older.
