Spring Forward Improv Workshops: Grounded Scenes for Absurd Characters

Dig deeper into the specific skills needed to make you a bad-ass improviser! Spring is here, and Stomping Ground is rolling out a brand new workshop series to help you spring forward as an improviser and performer! Each week, one of our instructors will dig into a topic or skill of their choosing! Students will refresh their improvisational toolbelt and add new tools to make their scenes both memorable and engaging for an audience. This class is recommended for students with some improv experience. The prerequisite for these workshops is Level Three Improv at Stomping Ground or the equivalent at another training center with permission from the Training Center Director. This week’s topic is Grounded Scenes for Absurd Characters & Situations Vampires talking about financial planning, ghosts discussing the real estate market, and people who can only move backwards worrying about the future–let’s play with some really wild characters in a grounded way that makes them more believable and even human! In this week’s Spring Forward Drop-In class, students will play absurd characters with strong perspectives and outlandish situations with an eye towards what makes them relatable to an audience! This drop-in class meets on Sunday, April 5 from 6-8:30pm. The instructor is Greg Mihalik. All sales are final. Price of class does not include Eventbrite’s service fee (3.7% + $1.79) and payment processing fee (2.9%) which will be added to the total price at checkout. All students must adhere to policies in the Stomping Ground Student Handbook. Must be 18 years or older.
