Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus

Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus

Join the Basilica as we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. In November 2025, at the Plenary Assembly of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), the U.S. bishops voted to consecrate the United States of America to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in June 2026. This consecration will occur as part of the national celebrations of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. As the patronal church of the United States, located prominently in our nation’s capital, the National Shrine will stand at the center of this consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. At the 5:15pm Mass, Most Reverend Timothy P. Broglio, Archbishop for the Military Services, USA, will consecrate the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
