Sketch Level One: Introduction to Sketch Comedy Writing

Learn the basics of sketch comedy writing from the script to the stage! This seven week course will introduce students to sketch comedy starting with character monologues. Students will learn the basics of comedy writing and then use them to generate funny scenarios and interesting characters from scratch. On Sunday, students will revise and refine their material with feedback while learning how to put their work on stage, culminating in a showcase of monologues and scenes. There is no prerequisite for this course. This course will focus on: Fundamentals of Comedy Writing Generating & pitching funny ideas Scene structure and script format Character Monologues & Scenes Acting Basics & Staging This is a recurring class for seven weeks on Wednesdays from 7-9:30pm starting Wednesday, April 29. The instructor is Sara Jackson. All sales are final. Listed price of class does not include Eventbrite’s service fee (3.7% + $1.79) and payment processing fee (2.9%) which will be added to the total price at checkout. Classes are non-refundable but enrollment may be deferred to a future class with TCD approval. All students must adhere to policies in the Stomping Ground Student Handbook. Must be 18 years or older.
