About this event

CLICK HERE TO REGISTER Our focus for this workshop will be the MEDIEVAL COIF (men) and St Birgitta cap (women) with the option for a simple VEIL, both a type and style of from 14th Century England commonly used by Villagers, Merchants and Clergy. We will explore traditional construction. PLEASE PROVIDE YOUR OWN FABRIC; information on what to order immediately below. Please be aware of ordering and shipping time frames, so that your fabric arrives in time for this workshop. Thank you. COIF: (men) The fabric requirement is 2/3 yd, 60” wide of white Linen. BIRGITTA CAP AND SIMPLE VEIL: (women) The fabric requirement is 1-1/3 yd of Handkerchief Linen, white. The workshop will provide needles and thread for handsewing and modern sewing machines for sewing seams, whichever you chose, or a combination for that Medieval Look. The pattern will be drawn directly onto the fabric with tailors chalk, (available at the Crafters Hall for your use), then cut so you may start assembly. Guidance will be given freely for the assembly process and you may choose to sew by hand or with a sewing machine. Reference, resource handouts will be made available for each participant via a USG thumb drive that you can take home and keep. The workshop will be limited to 6 participants. The workshop will probably be 5 hrs in length each day for 2 days, and will be held in the Craftersʻ Hall at Camlann Medieval Village. It may take most of you both days in which to complete your coif. Because of its length, you are welcome to bring a personal lunch or snacks, but please know that food consumption is not allowed in the buildings. Any food brought can be consumed outside in the Village Square or in the Green Room located upstairs above the Bors Hede. Thank you.
