11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. Puppeteer and performer Stacey Gordon (Julia on Sesame Street) leads this interactive workshop for all ages. Drink pretend tea, eat pretend pastries, make a real puppet craft, listen to a story, laugh, and play along as everyone enjoys the magic of puppetry! Borrow one of our puppets to use during the tea party or bring one of your own plush toys or puppet friends, and be prepared to giggle, dance, and laugh your way through teatime! Open to all ages, everyone in your group is encouraged to participate. Note that space is limited. Skills required: sitting in one place for up to 15 minutes, coloring, following one-step instructions, tolerating sound in a room of 40+ people of all ages, holding crayons, touching paper, body awareness, listening and being respectful of others’ space. Free with RSVP. Stacey Gordon is a puppeteer in Kansas City, Missouri. She operates Puppet Pie, and has the honor of performing Julia, a smart and curious autistic 4-year-old on Sesame Street. Stacey teaches puppetry to neurodiverse audiences online and at libraries and schools around the country. She hopes to empower people of all ages to explore the world around them through creativity and play.
