About this event
Followed by a Q&A with director Lucía Garibaldi Dir. Lucia Garibaldi. 2025, 96 mins. Uruguay/Argentina. In Spanish with English subtitles. This boundary-pushing, visually arresting sci-fi drama is the highly anticipated second feature from Uruguayan filmmaker Lucía Garibaldi (a Sundance Best Director winner for The Sharks). Set in a bleak, out-of-time neighborhood where routine fumigations mask a sinister reality, the film follows 18-year-old Elisa (Martina Passeggi in a breakthrough performance), the last young person in her community selected for a mysterious journey to the “North”—a distant promised land from where no one has ever returned. But when an enigmatic nurse arrives, Elisa begins to suspect her youth is merely a highly desired commodity, planting seeds of doubt that spark a quiet rebellion. Grounding her film in a deeply personal story, Garibaldi creates a stylized, dystopian reality not far from our own—where youth is currency, ants are malevolent, and dogs are extinct—to explore intergenerational sacrifice and the definitive power of refusal. Winner of the Viewpoints Award at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival. Tickets: $17.50 / $12 senior and students / $10 youth (ages 3–17) / discounted for MoMI members ($7–$11). There is a $1.50 transaction fee per ticket for all online purchases. The cost of admission may be applied toward a same-day purchase of a membership. Order tickets. Please pick up tickets at the Museum’s admissions desk upon arrival. All seating is general admission.
