About this event
Dir. Guillermo Del Toro. 2013, 131 mins. U.S. DCP with Dolby Atmos. With Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman. Guillermo Del Toro’s gargantuan spectacle is his own variation on the kaiju film, concerning a battle royale between mankind and a race of deadly giant sea creatures that have entered the human realm via an interdimensional portal at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. The only way to combat the mammoth foes is for us to create huge mecha-humanoids and send them into battle. Dedicated to such artists as stop motion master Ray Harryhausen and Godzilla creator Ishiro Honda, Del Toro’s film is one of the Oscar-winning filmmaker’s most good-natured, purely entertaining extravaganzas. Tickets: $17.50 / $12 senior and students / $10 youth (ages 3–17) / discounted for MoMI members ($7–$11). There is a $1.50 transaction fee per ticket for all online purchases. The cost of admission may be applied toward a same-day purchase of a membership. Order tickets. Please pick up tickets at the Museum’s admissions desk upon arrival. All seating is general admission.
