Not In Our Wildest Dreams explores the role of the Missouri Supreme Court in the state’s past, present, and future through Missouri’s female judges, from the court’s first woman judge—the Honorable Ann Covington—in 1989 to its historic female majority bench today. The film highlights the court’s teamwork in promoting civic education and empowering youth engagement, as well as the personal journeys of the trailblazers behind the black robes. Missouri became the 14th state with a female majority Supreme Court in 2023. This film features the stories and contributions of Judges Mary Rhodes Russell, Robin Ransom, Ginger Gooch, Kelly Broniec, Patricia Breckenridge, Laura Stith, and Ann Covington. Chief Justice Mary Rhodes Russell will be at the museum after the viewing for a Q&A with the audience. This film is produced by Missouri Humanities, with support from The Missouri Bar, the Association for Women Lawyers Foundation, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, Polsinelli Law Firm, Husch Blackwell LLP, League of Women Voters of Missouri, Shook, Hardy, and Bacon LLP, the Women Lawyers Association of Greater St. Louis, and Mary Butts Bruntrager.
