NEPACMS Presents: Sketches | St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Wilkes-Barre Saturday, October 24, 2026 | 7:00 PM NEPACMS Presents: Sketches comes to St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday, October 24, at 7:00 PM. The chamber music program explores works shaped by musical ideas, fragments and compositions revisited over time. Joaquín Turina’s Quartet in A minor, Op. 67 evokes Seville through atmospheric musical scenes. Alfred Schnittke’s Piano Quartet draws from 17 surviving bars written by Gustav Mahler when he was 16 years old. Mahler’s Piano Quartet in A minor is also featured. The program concludes with Johannes Brahms’ Piano Quartet No. 3 in C minor. Brahms returned to the work roughly 20 years after first setting it aside. Performers include violinist John Vaida, violist Amy Iwazumi, cellist Bryan Hayslett and pianist Bin Yu Sanford. NEPACMS Presents: Sketches in Wilkes-Barre explores unfinished ideas, musical memories and works brought to life across generations.
