Adding to the reverie, Abdiel Vázquez — familiar to FSO audiences as our charismatic Holiday Pops conductor — will trade his baton for the piano bench on the Whiting stage. His performance of Ravel’s unique work for piano will single-handedly enchant you with its mysterious beauty and breathtaking technical demands. How does he do it?! About the guest artist: Abdiel Vázquez is a New York-based conductor and pianist, acclaimed for his versatility across opera, symphonic music, and solo piano performance. Originally from Mexico, he is the Founder and Artistic Director of both La Súper Philharmonic Orchestra in Monterrey and Vincerò Academy, an international mentorship platform for young opera singers. Vázquez has appeared at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, Teatro Colón, and Palacio de Bellas Artes, and has collaborated with renowned artists such as Ailyn Pérez, Elīna Garanča, and Javier Camarena. He is noted for conducting and playing from the piano in works by Beethoven, Gershwin, and Márquez. His discography includes the solo albums Love & Death and In the Silent Night, as well as a Latin GRAMMY®-nominated recording with the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra.
