The Florida Master Gardener Program is an outreach program composed of UF/IFAS Extension certified volunteers who are trained to provide research-based horticultural education to Florida residents. Each session highlights practical tips and research-based information designed to help our community enjoy and care for Florida’s unique natural environment. Topic: Growing Roses in Central Florida Discover how to successfully cultivate vibrant roses in Central Florida. This beginner-friendly presentation introduces the differences between old garden and modern roses, explaining the key criteria used to classify each group. Attendees will learn how to choose the right varieties for our climate, along with proper planting techniques and site selection for lasting success. The session also highlights why specific standout cultivars such as Mrs. B. R. Cant, Louis Philippe, Spice, and Knock Out roses perform remarkably well in local gardens.
