Make+Take: Screenprinted Coasters

Let’s Make+Take!—Fall brings the promise of cozy gatherings and festive get-togethers. Gear up for your next gathering by creating your very own set of screenprinted coasters! In this session, we’ll guide you through the process of screenprinting using prepared screens burned with a variety of designs inspired by the season. Colorful ink will be mixed, and the paper coasters will be ready—just bring yourself (and maybe a friend!). Make+Takes are the perfect way to try screenprinting before jumping into a full-length workshop. Level: Beginner – no previous experience necessary! In addition, you may want to consider bringing the following items for class: (optional) Personal apron (we’ll have extras) and/or wear clothes that can get inky (optional) Note pad and pencil if you’d like to take notes MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR: Jeanette M. Bolden is a visual artist and screen printer based in Maryland. She has a B.A. in Studio Arts from the University of Maryland, College Park. Through her art, she investigates how emotions and fleeting moments can be made visible. The act of repetition within screenprinting opens the door to new interpretations, leading Bolden to acquire a new language. A language that uses color and shapes to speak to people, to fill in the gaps that words cannot. Of late, Bolden and her co-collaborator, Ennis R. Hodgson, displayed abstract pieces in 2025 at Collaborate / kəˈlabəˌrāt, a group show at Gallery Y in Washington, D.C. The year prior, she was the lead instructor for the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) 2024 Black History Month and Visual Arts Summer Internship program.
