About this event
This contest is open to all makers. In traditional Maker Faire spirit, the emphasis for this competition is on creativity, craftsmanship, and storytelling. How to Register: Registration is free! Complete your registration before 10:30 AM on September 4th. Online registration is encouraged, though onsite entries will be accepted at the Maker Faire Welcome Desks located in front of the Event Center and Center for Innovation. Contest Details: Each contestant will have approximately 60 seconds on stage. Costumes can be original characters or inspired by history, literature, comics, movies, television, video games, and more. Prizes will be awarded to the top performers! The contest is open to all ages. Contestants under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian present. Judging Criteria: Performance: Stage proficiency and ability to act in character. Craftsmanship: Costume appearance, complexity, creativity, and movement. Storytelling: Accuracy to the original character’s costume and story or originality and interpretation. Important Rules: Costumes must be tasteful and family-friendly. No real weapons or prop guns. No projectiles, live animals (except service animals), or loud audio devices. No jumping off the stage or use of flames, fireworks, smoke, or lasers. Contestants must adhere to all library safety and conduct guidelines.
