About this event

Presented by Art House Productions, Grant Jacoby & Dancers Lizzie Borden Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at 7:30 PM Not to be confused with, but still cosmically linked to, the alleged axe murderess of Fall River, Massachusetts, Lizzie Borden is an abstract love letter/ghost story dedicated to classical ballet, true crime, gay club culture, and final girls from slasher films. A lucid fever dream of overlapping shards of spectres, Lizzie Borden unfolds a strange world where failings of humankind and sexual tension blur the edges of beauty, decay, rust, and rot. Within this waking nightmare, an exploration is conducted into how we spectate, analyze, marginalize, degrade, and fetishize the human form, particularly queer bodies on stage, screen, and in society. Amidst the work’s edges and apertures, embodied trauma slides between the liminal spaces of joy and sorrow, and pleasure and pain. Dancers thrash, wait, watch, sink, seep, simmer, and splay themselves against a shifting soundscape that dares the audience to crawl inside of it and expand one’s attention span to take in movement structures and vocabulary skittering between nihilistic formalism and intimate horror.
