Deadline to Register: April 18th at 5:00pm Title: Jewelry: “Fused Glass Necklace Pendant” Description: This class is for beginning fusers. During the class we will be kiln making frit and each necklace pendant will be composed differently. A full analysis of the firing schedules will accompany each pendant. Also you will have a choice of various glass and textures for your projects. If you have ever been interested in fusing glass, this class will be an excellent starting point. Instructor: This class will be taught by local artist and Burritt Folk School Principal Instructor, Karen Reed. Karen Reed (Earthstar Glass) has been an art glass professional for over 40 years. Her work has been purchased for private collections in several countries, was requested for Christmas display at The White House, and is carried in galleries in several states. She has been a published, contributing editor for GLASS Craftsman magazine for 13 years. She has also written for : International Guild of Glass Artist’s publication: Common Ground Glass, Glass Art, Fired Arts, The Crafts Report and the e-magazine artglassinfo.com Teaching is a major component of Karen’s work and she has previously taught at folk schools in nine states including John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC, Arrowmont School for Arts & Crafts and The Appalachian Center for Craft. She had been at Burritt Folk School for the last six years. Locally her work is available in Josie’s Gift Shop at Burritt on the Mountain and in The Huntsville Art League (Lowe Mill) Supplies and Attire: All materials and supplies will be provided. Students should wear close-toed shoes.
