Heidi Latsky Dance: ON DISPLAY

Heidi Latsky Dance: ON DISPLAY

Tuesday, April 21, 2026 4:00–5:00 pm Free Register ON DISPLAY is a meditative movement work by choreographer Heidi Latsky, presented as a community “sculpture court” within the galleries. The piece developed through a period of teaching and engagement with local participants. Starting in February 2026, Latsky worked with participants from the JMKAC community—dancers and non-dancers of varying ages, sizes, and abilities—to shape a piece grounded in guided movement, stillness, and collective attention. Following the first installation of ON DISPLAY during JMKAC’s Spring Exhibition Opening, dancers from Heidi Latsky’s company will join local performers to go even deeper into the experience together. Rather than a traditional performance, ON DISPLAY unfolds through subtle, intentional movement activated by the participants. The work centers on presence and perception, drawing attention to acts of looking and being seen, and opening space for reflection on visibility, access, and embodiment. ON DISPLAY originated as part of a global social justice initiative honoring the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and has engaged underrepresented communities and audiences worldwide at such sites as Lincoln Center, the United Nations, Harvard University, the Whitney Museum, and New York City Hall in conversations about access and self-expression through movement. A second installation of ON DISPLAY, this time with Latsky on site, will take place on April 21 at 4:00 p.m. as part of the residency. Catey Ott Thompson, Milwaukee-based choreographer and artistic director of Catey Ott Dance Collective (CODC), Latsky’s former rehearsal director and understudy, and longtime ambassador of ON DISPLAY GLOBAL, will join the performance, as well as some HLD dancers.
