Garden Gatherings: A Culinary & Cultural Journey Thursday, April 23, 6 – 8 pm Le Jardin, Cantigny Visitors Center $125 Embark on a cross-continental adventure tracing the remarkable global history of one spring’s most iconic flowers, the tulip. Cantigny’s Director of Horticulture, Jamie Burghardt, will guide you through the tulip’s path from Asia Minor to Europe and ultimately the United States while highlighting the political, artistic, trade, and cultural forces that shaped its rise. No grand adventure is complete without sampling new flavors along the way. Throughout the evening, enjoy curated culinary pairings inspired by each region on the tulip’s route, offering a taste of the cultures that carried this flower across the world. Reservations Attendees will receive a pass for free parking to return to the park on another day and wander the tulips after learning about their journey! Menu Central Asia: Charred Lamb, Apricot, Fermented Yogurt, Pickled knob onion Ottoman Empire: Duck & Cherry glaze, Pistachio dukkha, Herb Salad Netherlands: Warm Potato, Smoked Trout, Dill Cream Americas: Buttermilk Fried Quail, Honey, Strawberry pepper relish, Young Cabbage slaw Netherlands: Stroopwaffel Includes soft drinks, water and iced tea. A cash bar will be available.
