About this event
Dive into the wonderful world of monoprinting through the lens of color and composition! In this approachable class, students will create a variety of plates using chipboard and paper, then combine them to print layered compositions. Students will learn how best to utilize transparency, how to approach and build a successful composition, and then finally create a small series of monotypes to take home. Level: All levels – great for beginners and those looking to learn new approaches alike. Registration closes November 8, 2026. Material fees are included with your registration to cover the supplies provided in class. Students will need to gather/purchase additional materials for class (see the materials list below). This list will also be provided with the registration confirmation email. Sample image by Rose Jaffe WORKSHOP SUPPLIES: Registration includes a $16 materials fee to cover consumable materials provided in class, including chip board and cardstock for creating plates, cutting and drawing tools, inks, and newsprint. Students will need to supply additional materials of their own, including: 10-15 sheets of printmaking paper – can be a varied selection, in 12×16” to 22×30” sheets—Rives BFK, Canson, etc. (optional) Personal apron (we’ll have extras on hand) and/or wear clothes that can get inky (optional) Notebook or sketchbook for idea generating and/or taking notes. MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR: Rose Jaffe is an interdisciplinary artist with mediums spanning printmaking, sculpture, painting, and illustration. She has painted over 50 murals nationally and internationally. Rose has explored printmaking in depth, resulting in a body of work that features bold colors, expressive figures, and a sense of movement inspired by nature and the healing power of connection.
