EveryBody Dances @ Yale Schwarzman Center brings local and visiting dance artists to our Dance Studio to teach masterclasses in jazz, hip hop, salsa, modern, contemporary, precision dance and more! All community members are welcome. This week's class is Intro to Flamenco led by Eva Conti Alegria! Discover the passion, strength and rhythms of the Spanish art of flamenco. Originally from the Andalusian Province in Southern Spain, flamenco dancing is one of the three integral parts (guitar, voice, dance) of the art of Flamenco. It draws from many cultures and traditions, especially the Moorish, Jewish, African, Indian and Spanish Roma. In this workshop learn: Brazeo y Floreo - arm and hand movementsTaconeo - foot and heel workMarcaje - marking patternsPalmas - rhythmic hand clappingPostura - body carriageAnd a short ChoreographyClothing options: Comfortable athletic clothingLong full skirtPantsFootwear options: Character shoeSturdy broad heeled shoe Half bootyAthletic shoes are also acceptable We welcome people ages 15 and under when accompanied by an adult. Doors open at 10:30am. Free and open to the public with registration.
