Greg Heavener, Warning Coordination Meteorologist (WCM) at NOAA’s National Weather Service (NWS) office in Boulder, CO, has been part of the northern Colorado community since late 2022. His primary role is relationship management and building, working with first responders and emergency management. Greg ensures the NWS provides the best possible product and service. He will explain how the region’s distinctive topography influences the movement of air and water throughout the Estes Valley. His expertise sheds light on the complex interactions between landscape and climate that shape local conditions. Greg has worked in Pueblo, CO, and Corpus Christi, TX, where he was deployed for Major Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. He started his career at Philadelphia/Mount Holly, NJ, supporting Superstorm Sandy, Hurricane Irene, numerous snowstorms, and major flooding events.
