In order to officially secure your spot on this event and to receive the details email of where to exactly park and meet with us you must register on our site by clicking the link below. https://www.trailboundproject.com/service-page/dog-cpr-first-aid-hiking?referral=service_list_widget Our events typically fill up at 16 people for courses! You won't see the attendees here on meetup as registrations are on our site but we wanted to let you know that we typically see large outings for all of our events! NOTE: NO DOGS ALLOWED during the course, even though this is a course on dog CPR, dog first aid, and hiking with dogs. For a variety of reasons, we can't have everyone bring their dogs, so we use dog manikins to practice. Unfortunately, dogs are not invincible, even if it may seem that way at times. Dogs get sick. Dogs get hurt. Dogs have accidents. Dogs get lost. Dogs can have good days and bad days just like we can! If you hike with your dog, hike with other people who have dogs, or just want the knowledge and skills to help any dog at any time, then this course will prepare you. Highlights from this course include: • Recommended vaccines and preventative measures • First aid kit - additional items to include for dogs • Dog CPR • Dog choking • Improvised muzzle application • Paw injuries • Splinting • Improvised tourniquets • Wound packing • Porcupine quills • Dog Bite and other bite wounds • Snake bites • Plants toxic to dogs • Hypothermia • Heat exhaustion & heat stroke • Water & water treatment • Bloat • GPS tracking • Dog gear - packs, leashes/harnesses, boots, bowls, rescue harnesses • Resources for dog search and rescue • Trip planning - local dog resources • Providing a dog-care report to a vet Plenty of knowledge and hands-on practice to walk away confident that you can handle whatever happens with your dog in the woods!
