Join the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee on Sunday, December 13 at 1 pm for a screening of Far East Deep South, tthe award-winning documentary feature that uncovers the little-known history of the Chinese American community in Mississippi. There will be two showings of this film. Register for the Wednesday, December 16 at 6:30 pm screening HERE. Free and open to all. Along the way, they connect with local residents and historians who reveal the complex racial dynamics of the segregated South—and the vital role of Chinese immigrants in Mississippi during that era. The film explores the lasting impact of the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 and highlights how deeply Chinese American families, like the Chius, are woven into the fabric of American history.
