Children's Author Talk: Kate Broderick

Maker Space. Kate Evon Brodericks' first venture in the world of writing, “Teaching Grandma and Grandpa,” results from being an engaged grandparent for nearly two decades. Filled with warmth and humor, “Teaching Grandma and Grandpa,” is perfect for grandparents, parents, and children to read together. “Like many readers, I feel blessed to be part of my grandkids’ lives, sharing in their happy moments as well as being there when comfort is required,” she admits. It makes a meaningful gift for Grandparents Day (Sept. 13), birthdays, baby showers, or simply to celebrate the special relationships between generations. About the Author Kate von Broderick enjoyed three successful work chapters in her life thruogh nursing, teaching, and higher education administration, but believes her true passion is now expressed by writing children’s books, primarily from the view point of a grandparent. She admits her interest in children’s literature began as a student at St. Bonaventure University. As a mother of three sons and a grandparent to four boys and three girls,she has had a frontrow seat into their lives. She jokes she has attended more soccer games, musical performances and sciencefairs than anyone she knows. Kate was a superb elementary school teacher in both New York and Virginia and was highly-respected for her ability to make writing and reading fun for her fourth and fifth grade students. She later started a career at a Virginia university where she became a devoted advocate for students with disabilities. In her free time, she can be found in Maine and Florida kayaking, hiking and cooking for her family and friends. She and her husband have been married for more than four decades.
