Chamber @ Ravenscroft: The Power of Six

Chamber @ Ravenscroft: The Power of Six

WHAT TO EXPECT Experience the lush textures and sweeping lyricism of The Power of Six, an unforgettable evening of chamber music featuring two masterful string sextets that showcase the full emotional and sonic depth of six instruments in perfect conversation. The program opens with Reinhold Glière’s infrequently performed Sextet No. 3 in C Major, a remarkable work of dazzling warmth, charm, and late-Romantic elegance. Brimming with melodic richness and vibrant color, Glière’s sextet invites listeners into a world where graceful introspection and bold musical interplay coexist. At the heart of the concert is the Sextet No. 1 in B-flat Major, Op. 18 by Johannes Brahms — a cornerstone of the chamber repertoire. With its sweeping themes, radiant harmonies, and emotional breadth, Brahms’ sextet is both intimate and grand, a portrait of youthful passion refined by the hand of a master. Join us for The Power of Six, and be swept away by the richness, resonance, and emotional power that only a string sextet can deliver.
