Holmes Reading Room - Front Room, Online. On Tuesday, October 20th from 5:30-7:00 p.m., join us for a reading of Carolyn Gage’s play You Don’t Know Maine, at the library. The play reading will be in-person with online viewing and will be recorded. Following the reading, Pamela Gagnon da Silva will lead a talk-back session. You Don’t Know Maine imagines a therapy group for survivors of sexual assault in a rural Maine county as they meet to process their reactions to the news that a local candidate running for the Senate has withdrawn from the race following credible allegations of rape. As the women share their responses, they also share their journeys with recovery from sexual assault. The play is intended to open new avenues of understanding, specifically for audiences in Hancock County, which is ground zero for the derailed campaign. Pamela is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) dedicated to fostering interdependence, equality, and resilience in response to oppression and trauma.
