By Nature: Resilience & Triumph
ONN closes the season with a celebration of resilience, artistry, and authenticity through the works of LGBTQ+ composers. Leonard Bernstein’s The Age of Anxiety—a symphony in name and piano concerto in spirit—is a meditation on modern disquiet and personal search for meaning, inspired by W.H. Auden’s Pulitzer Prize-winning poem. ONN welcomes the return of the dazzling Sara Davis Buechner as soloist. The program concludes with Tchaikovsky’s passionate Symphony No. 5, a masterwork of emotional intensity and triumph. Together, these pieces reflect personal struggle and transcendence, paying tribute to two iconic composers whose creative courage shaped the world of classical music.
