Borrego trail variation with off-trail part

About this event

This is a close-in and short hike that starts on the Borrego trailhead at the eastern end of Hyde State Park then after a short way on the Borrego we'll head off-trail to ascend a ridge that offers nice views. This is an out-and-back that totals just 2.5 miles. The off-trail part is a quite steep 200 ft. elevation gain through open forest and easier going up then back down. I discovered this route while searching for a geocache hidden by a local Boy Scout troop. I thought it might be fun to hide a couple of geocaches along the way.
