Live Student Music at the BOOtique Spooktacular — School of Rock Northshore at the Southern Hotel, Covington Halloween season on the Northshore gets its soundtrack on Friday, September 25. School of Rock Northshore brings live music to the BOOtique Spooktacular at the Southern Hotel in downtown Covington — a free, all-day family event running 11AM to 7PM, packed with shopping, spooky-season fun, and a courtyard that turns into a stage. Here's what makes it different from any other band you'll catch downtown: the musicians are kids. Our House Band is a student rock band made up of Northshore players who rehearse week after week at the school, learn real songs off real records, and earn every minute of stage time. They're not playing along to a track. They're playing a set — amps up, drums loud, the whole thing — from 6:00 to 6:45PM. School of Rock Northshore is an extracurricular, performance-based music school for students ages 4 through adult, serving Covington, Mandeville, Madisonville and the surrounding Northshore. We don't just teach music lessons in Covington — we put students on stages in front of real crowds, because that's where musicians are actually made. When you watch these kids play, you're watching the future of music get built in front of you. Live performance is one of the most important things a community can hand down, here and everywhere, and it only stays alive if people show up for it. The Southern Hotel is our Community Partner of the Month for September — a restored landmark on East Boston Street that's been Covington's gathering place for more than a century, and the kind of neighbor who makes room for kids with guitars.
