The Black History Book Club continues its fall season with a discussion of The Talented Ribkins by Ladee Hubbard on Oct. 26. First published in 2017, the novel blends speculative fiction with social satire, following a Black family whose inherited superhuman abilities are shaped as much by race and class as by power itself. Hubbard uses humor and genre to examine how American society defines value, success and survival, particularly for those navigating inherited systems of inequality. This free event begins at 5:30 p.m. at 1213 N. Central Ave., at Tampa’s Black History Museum. Participants are invited to gather for a community-centered conversation reflecting on Black authorship, imaginative storytelling and the ways narrative can challenge dominant cultural frameworks. Copies of the book are available through the Tampa Bay History Center Museum Store or online retailers. RSVP
