About this event

Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day with flutist Adam W. Sadberry, one of the most compelling and thoughtful musical voices of his generation. Winner of the 2021 Concert Artists Guild Competition, Sadberry has built a national reputation for performances that connect artistry with purpose, creating programs that are as meaningful as they are musically extraordinary. Drawing inspiration from the life of his grandfather, civil rights journalist L. Alex Wilson, this program explores themes of identity, courage, resilience, and social change through music by a diverse group of contemporary composers. Wilson's reporting on the Montgomery Bus Boycott, the Little Rock Nine, and the murder of Emmett Till helped shape the national conversation around civil rights, and his legacy serves as the emotional center of this deeply personal performance. Part concert, part reflection, and part storytelling experience, this Martin Luther King Jr. Day program invites audiences to listen more deeply — to the music, to history, and to the stories that continue to shape our world. Thought-provoking, moving, and ultimately hopeful, it is an afternoon designed to stay with you long after the final note has faded.
