2 hikes in the VCNP

About this event

We'll have two separate hikes, both in the Valles Caldera National Preserve. The first is the beautiful Hidden Valley hike. We've hiked this trail a number of times. The round-trip distance is 3.3 miles with very little elevation as we follow the East Fork of the Jemez River. Our second hike is the nearby Upper Frijoles Overlook trail. Very little elevation gain on this one too. Its round-trip distance is about 2.4 miles. We can take a break at our turn-around point on the Hidden Valley trail and also at the overlook on our 2nd hike. We can carpool from the parking lot behind Market Street Supermarket. The round-trip drive to the trailhead is 100 miles/1 hr. Sierra Club encourages carpooling so carpooling can be arranged at the meeting location. The suggested reimbursement amount is $8 to be paid to the driver by each rider. PLEASE READ THE "HOW TO FIND US" and check the pin location on the map. If you sign up, then your plans change, please update your GOING to NOT GOING as early as possible so that those on the waiting list can join us. Canceling the morning of the outing isn't being considerate. AND FINALLY...BE READY TO DEPART AT THE LISTED TIME We won't wait more than 5 min. Entrance fees to the VCNP are currently being waived.
