Redlin or Rodin: Essays on Midwestern Scenery is a travelogue through a famous duck-and-deer painter’s oeuvre during the 2020 pandemic, as the homesick writer and journalist Christopher Vondracek drives from Washington D.C. back to Minnesota and South Dakota, rediscovering aesthetic identity and the regional history of his Upper Midwest homeland. Christopher Vondracek is author of the 2022 memoir, Dancing with Welk: Music, Memory and Prairie Troubadours and the 2020 poetry collection, Rattlesnake Summer. By day, he is a Washington correspondent for the Minnesota Star Tribune.
