Pendleton is rodeo royalty. The Pendleton Round-Up, running each September since 1910, is one of the world's great rodeos — Let 'er Buck is the city's literal motto — and for one week the town of 17,000 swells with cowboys, tribal nations, and visitors filling the grandstands and the streets. The Happy Canyon Night Show, the Round-Up's companion pageant, has told the story of the region with Native participation for over a century. Summer also brings a whisky-branded music festival with national country headliners, and Wildhorse Resort books touring acts year-round just east of town. The wool mill, the saddle shops, and the underground tours fill out the visit.
