Saratoga Springs may be the most complete summer town in the Northeast. The Saratoga Performing Arts Center hosts the Philadelphia Orchestra and New York City Ballet in residence alongside major rock and pop tours, all in a shed surrounded by state park forest. Caffe Lena, operating since 1960, is the oldest continuously running folk coffeehouse in the country — a young Bob Dylan played here — and still presents music nightly. The Saratoga Race Course meet turns July and August into a city-wide festival, and the Freihofer's Saratoga Jazz Festival packs SPAC's lawn each June.
