Being a parent can be tough these days. Dozens of books and articles offer competing answers to questions from how to help siblings get along to how much screen time is too much, and every decision you make feels important. It's no wonder that many parents feel tired, stressed, and unsure of whether they're doing a good job. One answer to parental burnout is Good Enough Parenting: A Six-Point Plan for a Stronger Relationship with Your Child, authored by Dr. Tim Cavell and his colleague, Dr. Lauren Quetsch. In this talk, Dr. Cavell will discuss “good enough parenting”, why it’s a worthy goal, why the parent-child relationship is parents’ most important job, and what it means for parents to choose their battles wisely. Watch it here → MEET YOUR PRESENTER Tim Cavell, Ph.D., is a clinical child/family psychologist and professor of psychological science at the University of Arkansas (USA). His research focuses on mentoring children who are highly aggressive or chronically bullied and at risk for later delinquency, substance abuse, and psychological disorders. His work has been funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, the Institute for Educational Sciences (IES), and the U.S. Department of Defense. He has published three books (Good Enough Parenting; Working with Parents of Aggressive Children: A Practitioner’s Guide; Anger, Aggression, and Interventions for Interpersonal Violence) and over 100 scientific papers. Tim is a member of the American Psychological Association’s Board of Educational Affairs and is on the Research Board for the National Mentoring Resource Center.
