About this event

Artist Educator, Rachael Budd Discover the art of embroidery in this hands-on studio workshop designed for young makers! Inspired by the timeless tradition of sailors’ ditty bags, small drawstring pouches used for carrying everyday essentials, students will learn basic embroidery techniques while creating their own personalized canvas ditty bags. Explore stitches, patterns, color, and design as you transform a simple bag into a unique handmade work of art. Young artists will develop new creative skills and leave with a one-of-a-kind embroidered piece to proudly use and enjoy. No previous embroidery experience is needed! September 27 Sunday, 2 – 4 pm Members $35 / Nonmembers $45 All supplies included with registration — Featured image credit: Lars Thorsen (1876-1952), Sailor Ditty Bags, 20th century, canvas and rope. On loan from the collection of the Thorsen/Jenssen families. Currently on display in Luxe CT: Velvet Mills to Modern Runways.
